Soil Chemistry
“As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.”
After a season of rest and introspection, I turned my attention to improving the “soil chemistry” of my life. Metaphorically, soil chemistry represents a focus on my mindset, habits, and environment—the essential elements that nurture growth. Just as a farmer measures pH levels and adds nutrients to support healthy crops, I look now at my routines and relationships to see what is fostering my well-being and what is depleting it.
Healing involves a recalibration of the entire self. If I keep toxic thoughts or draining commitments in my life, even the best intentions cannot flourish. Through counseling, coaching and open conversations, I started to identify the “nutrients” I need—patience, self-compassion, and a willingness to learn new ways of doing things.
I aim to create an environment that nurtures growth: reducing the clutter in my schedule, setting achievable goals, and seeking mentorship where needed. Just as Rumi suggests, the more I walk toward balance, the clearer my path is becoming. I am beginning to see the incremental shifts—a calmer approach to challenges, a deeper appreciation for small wins, and an expanding sense of possibility. The invisible, beneath-the-surface work creates the conditions for the seeds to sprout.
